Press Release: Konami Digital Entertainment Sets First 2015 Date For Twice Yearly Yu-Gi-Oh! Day at Official Tournament Stores

TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) is pleased to announce the dates of the upcoming biannual Yu-Gi-Oh! Day; on either Saturday, January 24, 2015 or Sunday, January 25, 2015, depending on the availability of the participating Official Tournament Store (OTS) locations. Yu-Gi-Oh! Day is a day for all fans to celebrate the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand with a special tournament at Official Tournament Stores in North and Latin America.The first Yu-Gi-Oh! Day of 2015 is also designed to create synergy with the upcoming launch of the HERO Strike Structure Deck, by showcasing Jaden Yuki and his HERO Monsters on the event prizes! The HERO Strike Structure Deck, modeled after Jaden Yuki’s Deck from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime and manga series, releases nationwide on January 29 at Official Tournament Stores and January 30 at all other retailers.

For Duelists looking for an opportunity to play other Duelists at a local level, KONAMI has designed a day of fun and gameplay for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG crowd. These tournaments will utilize an Advanced Swiss format with no playoff cut. Each participating store hosting a Yu-Gi-Oh! Day will have great prizes for winning Duelists including a unique Yu-Gi-Oh! Day Game Mat featuring Jaden surrounded by many of his popular monsters, and an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! Day Super Rare Token Card. The entry fee to participate is $5 and each player will receive this amount in commensurate prizing (product given is up to the discretion of the participating OTS).

Press Release: Another Cardfight!! Vanguard Expansion Sold Out

More than 950,000 packs were sold in less than one month after the official release of Cardfight!! Vanguard Booster Pack Vol. 16 ‘Legion of Dragons & Blades’ ver.E on December 19, 2014.
This booster pack expansion joins the list of other Cardfight!! Vanguard expansions that were completely sold out within weeks of their release dates. Previous expansions, ExtraBooster Pack Vol. 11 ‘Requiem at Dusk’ and Extra Booster PackVol. 12 ‘Waltz of the Goddess’, sold more than 600,000 packs over the weekend.

The next expansion, Booster Pack Vol. 17 ‘Blazing Perdition’ ver.E, will hit the shelves from January 23, 2015. Cardfight!! Vanguard is a popular trading card game developed by Bushiroad Inc. in early 2011. It is currently available in four languages; Japanese, English, Korean and Thai.

Press Release: Attack on Titan Announced for Weiss Schwarz Trading Card Game

Bushiroad announces the addition of hit anime series “Attack on Titan” to its lineup of anime titles in its popular trading card game Weiss Schwarz during the Chaos Festival held at Akihabara UDX from December 28, 2014 to December 30, 2014.

“Attack on Titan” is slated for release in the English Edition and Japanese Edition Weiss Schwarz in the middle of 2015 and will be available as a trial deck as well as in a booster pack. The English Edition will also precede the Japanese Edition, making it the first title to be available in the English Edition Weiss Schwarz before its Japanese counterpart.

“Attack on Titan” started as a manga published by Kodansha in the Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in Japan, and received an anime adaptation in 2013 that brought it mainstream popularity and critical acclaim. Kodansha credited the series for its first revenue increase in 18 years. The first 10 volumes of the manga sold out after the airing of the anime in Japan. The series has also spawned numerous spinoff light novels, manga and short stories, video games, as well as two anime film adaptations and two live-action films. The first season of the anime concluded in September 2013, and a new season will air in 2016 in Japan. As of November 2014, more than 40 million copies of the Japanese manga are in print.

Konami is going stealth with the February 13th release date of The Secret Forces booster set. KONAMI’s The Secret Forces (MSRP $3.99 per pack) introduces three new tactical squads of never-before-seen monsters, prepared to compete in the toughest tournament Dueling of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG!

Duelists will be thrilled to unleash their new monster groups, the Nekroz, the Yosenju, and the Ritual Beast Tamers, in upcoming Duels. The Nekroz are a cabal who use the dead husks of Synchro Monsters to form sets of armor and hit the battlefield as powerful Ritual Monsters with multiple abilities. The Yosenju are a monastic order of Beast-Warriors with some of the fastest Summoning strategies ever seen. Yosenju can also boost their Pendulum Scale all the way to 11, letting them Summon and re-Summon Mayosenju Daibak, their powerful Level 10 boss monster that bounces cards back to the hand. And, the Ritual Beast Tamers, a band of Psychics who use their powers to commune with nature, team up with animals of land, sea, and air to form Fusion Monsters like Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio that can bounce to and from the Extra Deck as needed.

This 60-card, all-foil booster set includes 32 new cards from these three monster groups, plus 28 carefully selected classic cards to supplement Duelists’ Deck-building efforts, including the hard-to-find Preparation of Rites, which has been out of print for more than five years.
