Press Release: Seiji Kanai’s ‘Gods’ Gambit’ From Japanime Games

Gods’ Gambit, a new game from renowned game designer Seiji Kanai (Love Letter, Cheaty Mages!, Lost Legacy), is coming to stores this November from Japanime Games.

In the game, players take on the roles of Fallen Gods who must perform good acts in order to return to the High Heavens. Cards in hand take on the role of quests needing completion, and only by emptying their hand can a player find absolution. Various plays help a player empty their hand or cause trouble for another player. Bad Karma accumulates when a god uses its servants to sabotage and manipulate another player, but Bad Karma can be ignored if a God completes all of its good works by finishing all of their quests. Time is of the essence, though, because at some point judgment will be called for by the turn of the card, and each player’s works will be counted.

The game was initially funded on Kickstarter in 2014, receiving backing of $25,421 from 550 backers (roughly $46.22/backer).
