Press Release: Top Duelist at First Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series of the New Season In Toronto Canada

September 3, 2016

Fresh off the successful Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship held last weekend in Orlando, Fla., Konami drew hundreds of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Duelists in the first premier level event of the new Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) Dueling season. The season kick-off event in Toronto proved to be a reason to celebrate for new YCS Toronto Champion Bohdan Temnyk, and young John Wilkin who won the Dragon Duel Championship.

Players of every age and ability showed off their impressive Dueling skills round after round at YCS Toronto. From Glenmore Park, New South Wales, Australia, Temnyk expertly played his Burning Abyss Phantom Knight Deck to earn him a spot in Day 2 of the tournament. Then, after several rounds of Single Elimination, he faced Michael Walters from Brampton (Toronto), Ontario, also playing a Burning Abyss Phantom Knight Deck in the final playoff.

In addition to bringing home the title of YCS Champion, Temnyk received a special set of prizes that included the new YCS prize card making its début at YCS Toronto, an Ultra Rare Number 93: Utopia Kaiser, a YCS Championship Trophy, the new YCS Top Cut Game Mat, a PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and an invitation and paid travel to his 2017 World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) tournament!

Another exciting series of Duels happened during the Dragon Duel Championship, an event for Duelists born in 2004 or later. John Wilkin from Toronto, Ontario used his Sealed Deck then switched to his own Qliphort Deck in the finals. Wilkin’s skill and strategy proved to be the winning combination as he beat Connor Perrotta playing a Blue-Eyes White Dragon Deck to capture the title of Dragon Duel Champion. He picked up some great prizes too, including a Dragon Duel Championship Trophy, a Regional Deck Box, a Dragon Duel T-shirt, a 2017 Regional Game Mat, and an invitation to his 2017 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier.

Press Release: Toronto to Host First North American Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series of the New Dueling Season

August 23, 2016

It’s Time to Duel! Konami launches the new North American Dueling season for its premier level Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) in Toronto, Ontario August 27 – 28. This ultra-competitive weekend-long tournament gives hundreds of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Duelists across Canada and the United States their first chance of the season to show off their Deck-building skills and strategies and to compete with their peers. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is a card game involving strategy and skill made famous by the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and animated TV series.

In addition to the intense back-and-forth of competitive Dueling provided at a YCS event, a brand-new exclusive YCS prize card for the weekend’s top finishers will make its début – Number 93: Utopia Kaiser. Different from the regular cards found in booster packs and other Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG products, Number 93: Utopia Kaiser can only be obtained by finishing in the Top Three spots at a Main Event of a YCS, or by winning a special Public Events playoff tournament. This makes Number 93: Utopia Kaiser highly coveted by the throngs of Duelists around the world that will participate in the high-level competitive YCS events during the course of the season.

Additionally, the top-ranked Duelists will win a brand-new YCS Top Cut Game Mat for this event.
